The exhibition took us through a recreation of one of the on board restaurants before we found ourselves below deck, seeing all the luggage and cargo in the hold – there were even cars on board. It was definitely an emotional experience reading about the passengers and, in many cases, their journey towards what they hoped would be a brighter future. To think that many shouldn’t have even been on the ship. They should have been on a different ship but were moved to Titanic because of the lack of coal. What we hadn’t known before was that many people ended up on Titanic because of a coal strike. From furniture and crockery to wine bottles and luggage.Įvery display case had a story or two to tell and we gradually heard more about the passengers on board. ![]() This was our first experience seeing artifacts from inside the ship and there was so much to see. We then set foot on board the Titanic, walking through an outer door and into what felt like a corridor on the ship. The first rooms were about the making of the Titanic in Belfast and it travelling to Southampton before setting sail for New York. We started the exhibition watching a short film about the Titanic and seeing a scale model before moving in to the main exhibition. Exploring Titanic The Artifact Exhibition This costs an additional $5 per person on top of ticket prices.Īt the moment there are a few different tours available – The Ship of Dreams Guided Tour, Heroes of Titanic Guided Tour, Tales from Titanic Guided Tour and the Titanic Adventure for Kids Guided Tour which looks fantastic but we chose to just work around the exhibition in our own time. These are thematic guided tours where an artifact specialist lead groups of up to 25 people through the exhibition providing a personalised experience. There are guided tours available at an additional cost and at selected times through the week. Guided tours of the Titanic Artifacts Exhibition It was really eye opening and quite a sobering experience. Each card detailed a real passenger of the Titanic and when you got to the end of the exhibition you could find out what happened to them. We were also given a boarding card with passenger details on it. Ones that had the Titanic crest on them were real artifacts that had been brought up from the wreckage of the Titanic. We visited just as the heavens opened and the Titanic Exhibition proved to be a great place to get out of the rain! We bought our Artifact Exhibition tickets and were given a small into to the exhibition, being told that each of the Titanic exhibits would have a sign next to it. There are over 300 different artifacts on show and it’s a real educational experience. Titanic The Artifact Exhibition is an exhibition of real artifacts from the Titanic as well as a lot of mockups and reproductions of things that would have been on board. This time though we made the trip – and really enjoyed it. ![]() It had been around when we last visited Florida but the children were much younger so we didn’t visit. One thing I really wanted to do when we were in Florida was go to Titanic The Artifact Exhibition. ![]()
